October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time when communities across the country unite to raise awareness, support survivors, and fund life-saving care. Here in the Desert Cities, one of the most visible and beloved traditions is Paint El Paseo Pink, a community walk that brings together neighbors, families, and businesses to stand shoulder to shoulder in support of those affected by cancer.
As a real estate team committed to the well-being of our community, we’re honored to highlight this event and share ways you can get involved, whether by walking, volunteering, donating, or simply amplifying the message. Below are the details you need, along with a few companion events happening around the valley this October.
Paint El Paseo Pink
When: Saturday, October 11, 2025
- Kickoff: 7:30 a.m.
- Walk begins: 8:00 a.m.
Where: Along El Paseo, Palm Desert (starting at The Gardens at El Paseo)
What’s the mission?
Paint El Paseo Pink is more than a walk, it’s a call to action. Funds raised go to the Desert Cancer Foundation (DCF), which provides essential financial support to Coachella Valley residents who are uninsured or underinsured and need help with cancer screening, diagnosis, treatment, and allied care.
In past years, nearly 2,000 people and dozens of teams have participated, yielding tens of thousands in donations.
Why it matters:
Cancer doesn’t just impact the body, it can threaten financial stability, mental health, and quality of life. The Desert Cancer Foundation has helped many individuals stay afloat during treatment. For example, one past participant, Elia Valdez, shared how DCF stepped in to cover her insurance at a time she could not afford it, allowing her to focus on her recovery.
How to get involved:
- Register / join a team: Whether individually or with friends, teams can fundraise and compete.
- Donate or sponsor: Every dollar helps.
- Volunteer: From helping with setup, guiding walkers, distributing water, to post-walk cleanup — your time is valuable.
- Spread the word: Use social media, local contacts, or yard signs to build buzz
When we walk together, we send a strong message: no one in the Desert Cities fights cancer alone.
Together, We Make a Difference
At Desert Cities Home Real Estate, our roots run deep in this valley. We believe in more than just helping people find a place to live — we believe in strengthening the community we all call home.
When you join Paint El Paseo Pink (or any breast cancer awareness event this October), you’re not just walking — you’re lifting others, funding care, and reinforcing that compassion lives here. We hope to see you out on El Paseo, in pink shirts and hopeful hearts.
