Nothing says Christmas like 80 degrees and palm trees, right? So how do we celebrate and get festive? We decorate!
It does take a bit more creativity. You have to try a bit harder as there are no evergreens, no freshly fallen snow, and an overabundance of palms, cactus, and clear blue skies.
Here are a few ideas for our fellow desert dwellers with drought-resistant yards:
Light Up Deer
While we don’t get deer here in the desert, adding a trio of light-up deer gives us a little holiday cheer. We love our flat LED deer set up in our backyard so that we can enjoy them on cool evenings. We recommend nestling them up near a few cacti or ficus like they are nibbling on our desert foliage.
Palm Trees Wrapped in Lights
Wrap your palm trees! You’ll notice this is super common and a trend to do all over the valley. No evergreens – just palm trees lit up in rows.
Ornaments & Lights on Cacti
While you might think we also recommend draping lights on your cacti we recommend ornaments. You could put lights on… but getting those strings off without being poked may not be successful. So think agaves covered in ornaments or barrel cacti tailed in Christmas lights.
These are just a few ideas for landscape decorations. Do you have any tips or tricks for decorating for the Holidays?
