A Magical Summer Escape: Our Evening at the Lavender Festival at 123 Farm

A Magical Summer Escape: Our Evening at the Lavender Festival at 123 Farm

A Breath of Fresh Air Beyond the Desert

One of the greatest perks of living in Greater Palm Springs is that incredible weekend getaways are never far away. Looking for a break from the summer heat, Bettina and I recently made the short drive to the Lavender Festival at 123 Farm in Cherry Valley—and it quickly became one of our favorite summer experiences.

Located only about 40 minutes from downtown Palm Springs, this charming destination felt like stepping into another world. Cooler temperatures, fresh mountain air, fragrant lavender fields, and thousands of twinkling lights created an unforgettable evening that reminded us why Southern California has so many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.

A Picture-Perfect Evening

As we wandered through rows of blooming lavender, the sweet fragrance filled the air while the setting sun cast a beautiful golden glow across the farm. The cooler weather was a welcome relief from the desert heat, making it the perfect evening to slow down and simply enjoy the scenery.

Every corner of the property offered another beautiful photo opportunity—from endless purple fields to rustic barns and charming garden pathways. Whether you're visiting with family, friends, or your significant other, it's difficult not to appreciate the peaceful atmosphere.

Sourdough Pizza, Lavender Lemonade & Farm-Fresh Flavors

One of the highlights of our visit was dinner at the farm.

We enjoyed delicious wood-fired sourdough pizza paired with refreshing lavender lemonade—a combination that perfectly captured the flavors of the festival. The farm also offers an impressive variety of lavender-inspired treats and specialty foods, including lavender ice cream, cheesecake, baked goods, and even lavender-marinated steak for adventurous food lovers.

For anyone who enjoys artisan food and locally crafted products, this is a destination worth exploring.

When the Sun Sets, the Magic Begins

As evening arrived, the entire property transformed.

The gardens came alive with thousands of glowing lights that illuminated the pathways, lavender fields, and surrounding trees. Soft live music filled the air, creating an atmosphere that was both romantic and relaxing.

Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, we found ourselves simply strolling through the gardens, listening to the music, and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. It felt worlds away from everyday life and made for the perfect summer date night.

More Than Just Lavender

While the lavender fields are certainly the star attraction, there's much more to explore at 123 Farm.

Visitors can:

  • Tour the beautiful farm and gardens.
  • Learn how lavender essential oils are distilled.
  • Visit the famous sourdough bread hall.
  • Shop for lavender plants, essential oils, soaps, candles, and handcrafted gifts.
  • Sample a variety of lavender-inspired food and beverages.
  • Capture stunning photos throughout the property.

It's easy to spend several relaxing hours wandering the grounds and discovering something new around every corner.
